Sadly, and contrary to popular belief, I do have a life and interests outside the Amiga realm. Although I&#8217;ve not had much time to try out the latest versions of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.morphos-team.net\/\"><em>MorphOS 3.6<\/em><\/a> and <em>AROS<\/em>, or even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amikit.amiga.sk\/\"><em>AmiKi<\/em>t 7<\/a> or<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amigaforever.com\/\">Amiga Forever 2014<\/a><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amigaforever.com\/\"> <\/a>for that matter, I&#8217;ve still had fun testing some interesting new programs and updates which should be available in the not too distant future. Tease mode off! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amiga.org&#8230;asmic!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Amiga.org2_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6507 alignleft\" title=\"Amiga.org2\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Amiga.org2_-300x66.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"46\" \/><\/a>You may have read that A-EON Technology recently acquired the rights to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amiga.org\">Amiga.org<\/a><\/em>, the world&#8217;s oldest English language Amiga community web forum which dates back to a time when Commodore was still in existence. <em>Amiga.org<\/em> is a great piece of Amiga history  and has the potential to be a massive resource for all Amiga and Amiga-inspired enthusiasts (whatever the  flavour) and as a fully signed up member I&#8217;m really proud to be associated with this Amiga community forum.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6500\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6500\" style=\"width: 168px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Amiga.org_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6500  \" title=\"Amiga.org\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Amiga.org_-300x251.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"141\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6500\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The world&#39;s oldest Amiga web forum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I was very surprised to discover that the current<em> Amiga.org<\/em> logo was created by the talented Australian Amiga graphics artist Kevin Saunders who created a series of logos and graphic designs  for Wayne Hunt, who was the original founder of<em> Amiga.org<\/em> way back in 1994. Incredibly, 2014 marks <em>Amiga.org&#8217;s<\/em> 20th anniversary. All I can say is here&#8217;s to the next 20 years!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sweet talk&#8230;Amiga style<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/suga-3-v2-normal.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6463 alignleft\" title=\"suga-3-v2-normal\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/suga-3-v2-normal-300x90.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"57\" \/><\/a>I was recently contacted by <em>Johannes Genberg<\/em>, the editor of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/suga.se\/amigaforum\/index.html\">Amiga Forum<\/a><\/em>, a Swedish printed Amiga magazine which caters for all Amiga inspired flavours, created by SUGA, the Swedish User Group of Amiga.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6464\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6464\" style=\"width: 132px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/AmigaForum.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6464 \" title=\"AmigaForum\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/AmigaForum-210x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"132\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6464\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Issue # 9 <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Issue #9 has just been released and if you want to find out what the fuss is all about you can download many of their <em><a href=\"http:\/\/suga.se\/amigaforum\/arkiv.html\">back issues<\/a><\/em> free of charge. All I can say is the poster design was created by the Kevin Saunders who also created the excellent Amiga.org logo above and many other images and artwork for A-EON Technology. As for the Radiance itself, watch this space&#8230;&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pasocon Otaku<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6455\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6455\" style=\"width: 189px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/RTD31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6455 \" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/RTD31-300x222.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6455\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pasocon Otaku Amigasan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I recently discovered that the Japanese have a term for people who are obsessed with computer technology. Apparently we are <em>Pasocon Otaku<\/em> (or computer geeks) and according to the definition, we are known to study hardware and software  specifications in detail, enjoy discussing the latest devices and spend large amounts of time configuring and customizing  hardware and software. In the most extreme cases we become experts at computer programming  or network security. That probably describes 99.9% of the Amiga community. So what&#8217;s the problem with discussing pre-emptive multitasking and metadata stack overflow anyway? However, don&#8217;t worry we are in good company, the Japanese also have eleven other main Otaku &#8220;types&#8221; ranging from <em>Manga Otaku<\/em> to<em> Tetsudou Otaku<\/em>. Now I&#8217;m worried. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reflected Glory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/UNDERCOVER_small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6408 alignright\" title=\"UNDERCOVER_small\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/UNDERCOVER_small-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"162\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a>If you are lucky enough to be an AmigaONE X1000 &#8220;First Contact&#8221; owner you will have heard the special boot-up sound written, as a homage to the original Amiga 1000 boot sound, by free-lance music composer <em>RayneLeafe<\/em>. She has also written music and sound effects for a number  of Amiga-related videos as well as the new boot sound, entitled <em>Close Encounters<\/em>, for the AMIGA one X5000 models. What you may not know is that she is also the creative influence behind <em>Stomp it Out Productions<\/em> whose movie, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiereign.com\/video\/undercover\">Undercover<\/a><\/em>, has just won the Jury award for the best documentary at the annual <a href=\"http:\/\/cinemaattheedge.com\/\"><em>Cinema at the Edge<\/em><\/a> film festival in Santa Monica, California. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Undercover_Award2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6701\" title=\"Publication1\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Undercover_Award2-294x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"206\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a>Not only did she direct and edit the movie, she was also the camera person and composed all the music and sound effects as well. Talking about boot sounds, <em>RayneLeafe<\/em> has just finished all the editing on her next movie, entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stompitoutmovie.com\/\"><em>Stomp it Out<\/em><\/a>, which is a documentary about a group of young people from the slums of Soweto in South Africa who take their unique form of gumboot dancing on a brief tour of China. Money to help support the project was raised via a successful Kickstarter campaign which included contributions from some generous members of the Amiga community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gaming (re) generation<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6612\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6612\" style=\"width: 216px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Gramefroot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6612 \" title=\"Gramefroot\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Gramefroot-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"146\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6612\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gamefroot game running in Firefox browser<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gamefroot2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6448 alignright\" title=\"gamefroot2\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gamefroot2-300x59.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"162\" height=\"32\" \/><\/a>In addition to directing movies, <em>RayneLeafe <\/em>has written all the sound effects, music and soundscapes for <a href=\"http:\/\/gamefroot.com\/\"><em>Gamefroot<\/em><\/a>,  a free web based &#8220;drag and drop&#8221; game creation tool for artists,  storytellers, junior  game developers, \u201cnoobs\u201d, and people (like me) who just can\u2019t  really code. <em>Gamefroot<\/em> provides all the gaming elements such as graphics, sprites, backdrops, music, sound effects and soundscapes etc for you to easily create your own platform game.<\/p>\n<p>All you need to do is add your own imagination and creative genius. Of course you can also create your own game elements if you prefer but the choice is totally yours. The <em>Gamefoot<\/em> community has expanded rapidly and there are now over 25,000 games which have been published using the <em>Gamefoot<\/em> game creation tool, with hundreds of new games added every day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6417\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6417\" style=\"width: 95px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Kiwijs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6417 \" title=\"Kiwijs\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Kiwijs-273x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"95\" height=\"105\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">kiwi.js - html5 game engine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Unfortunately, for  us Amigans,<em> Gamefroot<\/em> is flash based but the next version promises to  support <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kiwijs.org\/\"><em>kiwi.js<\/em><\/a>, an advanced open source html5 game framework for serious game developers and web designers. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Particle_effects2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-6678\" title=\"Particle_effects2\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Particle_effects2-300x95.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"77\" \/><\/a><em>kiwi.js<\/em> offers professional level support with game blueprints and plugins such as in-app purchasing and impressive particle effects.<\/p>\n<p>The development team behind<em> kiwi.js<\/em> are now working on the tech to automatically convert the flash based <em>Gamefroot<\/em> games to run with kiwi.js under html5.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6563\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6563\" style=\"width: 243px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/KWGrab.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6563       \" title=\"KWGrab\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/KWGrab-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"161\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6563\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">kiwi.js demo running on Odyssey under MorphOS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That will mean that any web browser which supports html5 should be able to play the <em>Gamefroot<\/em> created games. Why is this of any interest you may ask? The good news for MorphOS and AmigaOS 4 users is that, although not perfect, some of the simple<em> kiwi.js<\/em> html5 game demo <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kiwijs.org\/documentation\/blueprints\/\"><em>blueprints<\/em><\/a> already run with the latest versions of the <em>Odyssey <\/em>web browser which have support for html5. The <em>blueprint<\/em> demos also work in <em>Timberwolf<\/em> under AmigaOS 4 which also includes some html5 support.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6572\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6572\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/KWgrab_wb.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6572   \" title=\"KWgrab_wb\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/KWgrab_wb-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6572\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">kiwi.js demos running on Odyssey under AmigaOS 4<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Recently I had the opportunity of playing (and losing) one of the first, very advanced, two player html5 strategy games created for the iPad using kiwis.js. The other evening I <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">went to the pub<\/span> cough, attended a recent beta testing session with some of the creative designers and developers of the game.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6438\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6438\" style=\"width: 151px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Standoff_small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6438   \" src=\"http:\/\/blog.a-eon.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Standoff_small-270x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6438\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">html5 game built on kiwi.js<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With two people simultaneously playing the game on the same iPad device, it was truly an interactive social gaming experience. The beer was pretty good too! Unfortunately, I am sworn to secrecy about details of the game but, suffice to say, it looks like html5, hardware independent gaming, powered by kiwi.js, is finally coming of age.
